When Hugo França met Tom Fecht, a German artist, he could never think of the importance that this event would have in his creative process. During a visit to the designer’s studio in Trancoso Tom presented França with a set of Arches paper, suggesting that he sought a new approach to his poetics through drawing.
After months of research and tests, a path was found. Using trunk pieces, wood slices and blocks, debris of his sculptural furniture production, and a mix of charcoal and varnish, França started a monotype series, intimate testimonies of the tree core features.
